Hot Dog and Burger Buns

Ingredients

  • Water, 1 cup (227 grams)

  • Butter, 2 tbsp (28 grams)

  • 1 egg

  • All-purpose flour, 3.5 cups (418 grams)

  • Sugar, .25 cup (50 grams)

  • Salt, 1.25 tsp

  • Yeast, 1 tbsp

  • Egg wash of egg, water, salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix and knead all ingredients.

  2. Cover and rise for 1-2 hours.

  3. Divide into 8 even balls, flatten gently to 3 inch diameter for burger buns or into 1 inch thick cylindrical shape for hot dog rolls.

  4. Rest on covered baking sheet until the dough doubles.

  5. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-18 minutes until golden.
